What is Safe Place ?

Where kids get help...fast
Safe Place is a nationwide program that provides temporary shelter to lost children, youth in trouble, and teens in crisis while Youth Services is contacted.
Who is Eligible for Safe Place?
Any youth in trouble can enter a location bearing the Safe Place sign and request help. An employee will provide the youth a secure place to wait while the Juvenile Receiving Center is contacted. The Center then sends a trained volunteer or staff member to the Safe Place site to offer help and transportation to the Juvenile Receiving Center.
Who is Eligible for Juvenile Receiving Center?
Status Offenders who reside in Salt Lake, Tooele, and Summit Counties, ages 8 to 18, who commit acts that are illegal only due to their age and who do not meet the Detention Admission Guidelines.
How Do I Find a Safe Place?
There are over 80 businesses and public locations across the Salt Lake Valley that participate in this program. The Safe Places have a large metal sign and Safe Place logo in the window.
